Short Physics tutorial on Forces. On completion you will be able to 

1. Define and explain what a force is
2. List and describe the main kinds of forces
3. Explain the effects of a force

In this chapter, you will learn why it is important to identify a reference frame in order to clearly describe motion. For now, the motion you describe will be one-dimensional. Within this context, you will learn the difference between distance and displacement as well as the difference between speed and velocity. Then you will look at some graphing and problem-solving techniques.

Open Educational Resources (OER) are quality, free educational resources, that you can use without having to ask for permission, and that can be adapted to better suit local contexts and needs.

Many educators and developers don't know how to efficiently search for and identity useful resources. Some throw up their hands in horror and give up when tasked with finding suitable resources on the Internet. In this tutorial, we are committed to providing you with a search strategy for open content to ensure that you quickly find open resources. Let us begin!

On completion of this unit of study you will be able to:

• Decipher open licenses i.e. identify rights and permissions contained within Creative Commons licences attached to open content.
• Search for open content using common tools and filters such as on Google Advanced Search and the YouTube Creative Commons filter, as well as specialized services such as Creative Commons Search to find open media.

Defining and comparing tension, weight, friction and normal forces using free body diagrams.

Visualising, adding and breaking down vectors in 2 dimensions.

In this unit you will learn what a force is and find out about different types of forces. This will allow you to identify forces at work in your everyday life and understand the effects of forces.
